Overdale practice is based on the belief that we can help people to help
themselves. As a qualified and registered practitioner I know that I can deliver the very best results through a thoughtful, non-judgemental and caring approach. Counselling is a personal process and treatments are tailored to each individual's needs.
I would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and work with you to get rid of negative feelings, thoughts and behaviours.
Life can sometimes produce a great deal of stress. The reasons for this can range from a heavy workload and imminent deadlines, to difficulties of a personal nature. Counselling provides an opportunity to discuss any difficulties you may be experiencing in your life with a qualified person.
Counselling is a process which enables you to explore and make sense of issues that may be distressing you or disrupting your life. I became a therapist because there were times in my life when I needed to talk to someone outside my friends and family, and still do. Being able to share and learn about my experiences enabled me to grow and be happier with myself and in my relationships with others.
Counsellors work with respect for individuals' values and beliefs with the aim of offering the greatest opportunity for growth and change. Some of the issues you might explore are managing work stress, anxiety, panic attacks, low self esteem or relationships.
Everyone brings different issues to counselling. If you are not sure if it is right for you please contact me. You can find more information on my web page on the Counselling Directory web site: www.counselling-directory.org.uk

I have a varied experience. I have worked in shops, clubs, bars, a factory, colleges and high schools.
I have been a teacher, Curriculum Leader and Assistant Headteacher, so understand first hand the stresses of working in a full on, target-driven environment.
I have worked with many young teachers, other professionals and students from higher education on stress and work related problems. I have also led small workshops in emotional well-being for groups of teachers; sixth form students and others.
Workshops usually take place for 90 minutes across 2 weeks. These are interactive and include: shared experiences; factual information about the body and its responses to stress; techniques to combat stress and anxiety; practise in these techniques; hypnotherapy and relaxation; homework and usually a lot of humour and learning form shared experiences.
Workshops are run in community centres and cost approx. £60 for 2 x 90 minute sessions.
